Tia, a piano isn't "mostly wood". The case is wood, but, other than a lot of space, most of what's inside is metal. Certainly a very great deal of the weight of a piano is in the frame, which is cast metal--I don't know, iron, steel, or bronze.

And the wood involved is pretty dense, and might not float just in itself.
