I have contended for a long time that MAN=MANKIND should itself be changed to WOMANKIND. The reason is that the word 'man' is found in the word 'woman' but NOT vice versa. Nothing to do with political correctness, only logical accuracy.

Then when one is speaking of an individual man, one just drops the two letters indicating the species.

For some reason, men tend to resist that notion. Why is that, do you suppose?
