Referring to an earlier post Chinese is not exactly neutral. Though the pronunciation of the word for her/him is 'ta' the actual characters are different one has a radical for woman and the other a radical for man as the left part of the character. There is however a neutral character used for referring to objects and animals.

The character for safe 'an' shows a woman under a roof, while the character for a house shows a styalised pig under a roof. Male characters do not appear under roofs. However the word for rest shows a male radical sitting by a tree. There are no characters showing females sitting by trees. The PC bunch would have a fun time with those.
