Just curious. How come "Mature" when applied to threads, readers, video games and movies means using obscenities, profanity and showing excessive violence? When did insensitivity to these things become "mature?" I thought that maturity had something to do with putting away childish things and becoming less self-centered and non-judgmental.
If you meet someone who swears a blue streak, uses endless obscenities and gets "off" on violence would you say.. "Man, that guy is REALLY mature?
Or is this meaning of "mature" strickly an American thing?
