As well as being (to our eyes and other parts) back-to-front, the weirdest Germanic toilet I've come across also had a *revolving toilet seat*. The idea was that when you pulled the flush, a little spurt of disinfectant was sprayed onto the seat from the cistern and the seat revolved so that the whole seat was covered. Rather scary for anyone who stayed on the seat after flushing.
