The great folklorist and ballad scholar, Mac Leach was remarkable. There wasn't anybody who wasn't awed. Anyway, he taught me some of what the stuff was about. He used to regularly pound his desk and shout out, "Newfoundland must be collected!" This impressed me considerably. (See his bio & Newf collection at Clicky )
