My grandparents lived in various overseas locations in the 191x's, 1920's, and early 1930's.....they had just moved to China, where they lived in a section with mostly British families....there were very few from the US living there at the time.....when My grandmother was shunned for months by the "social crowd" -- because my mother (about 4 at the time) spotted a smashed mosquito on a woman's blouse and loudly pointed out the "bloody bug"
