Don ...Sorry if i gave the impression of shortness in replying to your post,I always read your posts with respect although you play on the opposite side of the field from me.

I do however get frustrated by the idea that our social and economic model can cure all the worlds ills.
I wont go into my reasons again, as folks must be getting sick of reading them. Suffice to say that Africa is still largely agrarian due to the fact that although the imperialists exploited its natural resources, they have not yet got round to performing the same service for its people.

Sidewinger.. Glad you've discovered Egypt.

Akhenaton is my historical hero and the first free-thinker...just before Little Hawk.
There are some of his writings on the internet, full of praise for the wonder of nature. I believe Akhenatons philosophy, if put into practice could really solve the worlds ills, but thats another story.

Hope you journey further into Egypian history, as the further back you look, the further forward you can see.

If you're interested, try to get Arthur Weigalls'"The treasury of ancient Egypt"....I have a first edition..it contains transcriptions of Akhenatons'beautiful hymns to the Sun God Aton, and after 1500yrs still as relevant today....Best wishes my friend...Ake

Cheers ...Ake
