Small festival but rather prestigious - said they could only pay a small honorarium of $25.00. I drove 2 1/2 hours each way (actually the return was longer because I ran into bad traffic. The "stage" they stuck me on was way out in a hot field (did I mention it was in August - in the South?)with no shade for either myself or the audience. There were hay bales for the audience to sit on, but there were only three people - two diehard fans (bless them) and a sound man. Turns out the sound man was really a park attendant and didn't know how to operate the sound system. Oh and someone cranked up a generator nearby which I had to try to sing over with a sound system that only half worked. And...that whopping $25.00 check they were supposed to mail me never came!
