The constant bickering about this and that in politics around the globe has led me to write something. It's just a poem for now, though I expect that by tomorrow it may well have a tune to it.

It is not meant to depict the situation in any one country - I have seen equivalent signs in every country I have lived (three) and most countries I visited (18). But I expect people will see themselves in it and want to argue, so to save time I moved it to BS section from the start.

Please criticise/judge.

TAINTED LOVE

I am a patriot, said the traitor
I love my country and won't hear a word against it
It is the best and we all know that God has blessed it
If you think different, you're enemy of mine.

I am a patriot, said the patriot
I love my country just like you and I can prove it:
But it has faults, and all I want is to improve it.
And I'll put life and reputation on the line.

You are a traitor, said the traitor
You're finding faults where there are none, like a magician
To all my country means to me, you're opposition
You rock the boat and you think you know best.

I am a patriot, said the patriot
Love that can see no fault is love only in letter
I see them, but I care enough to make them better
And all my life and actions this fact will attest.

You are a traitor, said the traitor
A liar too, because my love you just offended
It is high time that your subversive acts were ended
So from this moment pal, you are under arrest.
