Baltimore is peaceful nowadays, except on Saturday nights, and is the place to catch the ferry to Cape Clear Island. 'Most' of the inhabitants was probably never a very large number, which of course doesn't make it any less horrible.

Years ago I watched a small dog chase a cat there, up and down the quay, on and off the boats. When the dog eventually caught the cat, well, I won't say too much about what happened, except that I've never seen a cat look so surprised, and the good Catholic parents passing by trying to shield the eyes of all six daughters simultaneously.
