I still have an old pair of high quality 4 channel headphones. They are a brilliant device for monitoring - the rear channels have a fader pot on the ear muff, and there are 4 separate speakers, 2 in each earmuff - so you can use it for cueing while still listening to the output, etc, without any worry about electrical connections. There are 2 separate stereo plugs, one for front pair, one for back pair. I found it wonderful rather than trying to juggle two sets of headphones.
