Thread Name: Lyr Req: Johnny Cash Records (parody of Folsom...)
Subject: Johnny Cash Records
About ten years ago, I saw a band in Peterborough, Ontario do a parody of Folsom Prison Blues called Johnny Cash Records. I'm trying to find the lyrics. The band was a Cow Punk band called The Absolute Whores (pronounced 'hoo-wers'), from somewhere in around Toronto or Guelph. I can remember the first two verses:
Well I was born a poor boy
In a shack in Tennessee
I've been listening to Johnny Cash records
Since I was the age of three
Well I tried Merle Haggard
Conway Twitty too
But I always come back to Johnny
'Cause it seemed like Johnny knew
Do you want some Johnny Cash records
I don't need them anymore

When I was a baby
My mama told me son
Always be a good boy
Don't you never play with guns
I shot a man in Reno
Just to have some fun
Do you want some Johnny Cash records
I don't need them on the run

That's all I know.

Thanks

Paul
