Challenging roads... story time, please?

Many sections of the highways were under construction , and some which were not, should have been. The potholes were large, ubiquitous, and mostly invisible until just before the front wheel disappeared into one.

The Taylor Highway, which is travelled by huge motor homes, 5th wheel trailers and tour buses, truly does run along the top of the world. In many places, the dirt and gravel road rests on the top of a mountain ridge. There is barely room for two cars to pass; there are no shoulders; there are no guard rails. The land drops off hundreds of feet on both sides of the road. (I'm afraid of heights.)

Beyond Hyder, Ak, after climbing along the mountainside through 27 km of potholes and ruts, there was a magnificent view of the Salmon Glacier, critters, and purty flowers.
