A difficult song to track down, because there are many songs with the same title. (Allmusic.com lists 971 tracks.)
This song called HOME was written by Fred Lehner and Andy Spooner. As far as I can determine, they are songwriters who have never recorded their own material.
It was recorded by Joe Diffie, and initially appeared on his album "A Thousand Winding Roads" and subsequently on several compilation albums, e.g. "Billboard Top Country Hits: 1990."
Also recorded by Seán Keane on his 1996 album "Turn a Phrase" and on "The Celtic Heartbeat Collection, Vol. 2."
