I'm just taking a page from my own family history. When my sons were younger we had a birthday week. Each day of the week, we did something special... a favorite meal.. a movie, a short day trip...
My Mother celebrates a MINIMUM of one week. This year, because she is slowing down, she only had two birthday parties instead of her usual three. If it's good enough for my family, why not Art? I figure this way, by the time Art's birthday rolls around, we'll have had a chance to wish him a Happy birthday, not a "Sorry-I-missed-your birthday-again birthday wish.

I think what this is is that Art is getting his "just deserts" That's not a bad idea for a birthday, either.
