A while back, my beloved cat, Dellie, curled up outside, right under my bedroom window, and died.

She was a lovely, gentle, affectionate cat, and I have been "minding" her for a young man, "jimmy" who is serving time in jail. Before Dellie came to us, she had only been with Jimmy, and his mother. Jimmy's mother died when he was in his late teens, he had no one else, got into trouble, and is now serving a few years in jail.

Dellie decided that I was her new mother. She followed me about when i was doing housework and curled up at my feet when i was still. if i was mudcatting, she would climb up and try to sit on the keyboard. so I pulled up a chair next to me, and she sat on that. When i came home from work, she would be sitting outside waiting for me, and if i walked over to my neighbours, or up the road, she would come too.

It was awful when she died, she had had the sweetest nature, but went downhill and became really old in the last three weeks.

we buried her in the back yard, under a tree, amongst the ferns. In memory of Dellie, I am starting this thread and the next post will be an article I read today about a dog who has has just died.
