Thread Name: BS: On Being Stupid and Making Things Right
Subject: RE: BS: On Being Stupid and Making Things Right
Does anyone here know the African American spiritual "I woke up this mornin?" I remember the 1st and 2nd verse going like this:

I woke up this mornin with my mind
stayed on Jesus
Woke up this mornin
with my mind stayed on Jesus
I woke up this mornin with my mind
stayed on Jesus
Hallelu Hallelu Hallelu-u-yah

Well, I walked & talked
talked & walked with my mind
stayed on Jesus
Walked and talked
talked and walked
with my mind stayed on Jesus
Well, I walked & talked
talked & walked with my mind
stayed on Jesus
Hallelu Hallelu Hallelu-u-yah

****

I remember singing this as a Civil Rights song in the mid 1960s. But instead of saying "with my mind stayed on Jesus" we sang "with my mind stayed on freedom".

Using the folk process, may I suggest that we sing "Woke up this mornin with my mind stayed on peace" [but the word 'peace' would have to be pronounced like this "pee-eese" to fit the song's melody].

What in the world does this have to do with the price of beans?
Well Imma tell yah.

I woke up Sunday mornin and read this thread and it seems to me, my sistas and brothas, that we have forgotten what this thread was all about in the first place-somebody tryin to do the right thing after mouthin off the wrong way..

And does it seem to me we are doin the right thing by each other here?

[insert the congregation's response-'NO!']

It just seems to me that if people can't play pass this disagreement [y'all know what I'm talkin about] and if people feel that they have a bone that they must pick, and they must pick it over and over and over again, may I suggest that they do so though the Private Message system away from all us good folks that want to move on up to higher heights.

[Let the church say "Amen!" 'AMEN']

There's just too many heavy duty things goin on in the world to waste time and energy on sweatin the small stuff.

But if people insist upon a word fight that may have been started some time ago for all I know, I would respectfully request that y'all leave my name out of it. Like this frican American saying goes:
                My name is Bess
and I ain't in this mess.
