Ballad to a Beautiful Muse (2)


I have a muse: A precious maid,
Who causes thought to mull.
For all my lines I have heart paid:
My muse is beautiful.

I seek for words to tell desires,
And rhymes from visions pull.
I find the truth that she inspires:
My muse is beautiful.

I beg for muse to give me hope,
And dream words dutiful.
I cannot without desire cope:
My muse is beautiful.

My dreams fly round, seeking my muse,
Demanding as a gull.
How can I hope for touch refuse?
My muse is beautiful.

The distance, and effects of age,
Cannot my passions lull:
The blood still pounds, and desires rage.
My muse is beautiful.

I hold her only in my mind,
And wrap arms just in wool.
Yet know I know, though heart is blind,
My muse is beautiful.
