Upthread, we were wondering about legal authority under miltary law to charge illegal combatants with crimes perpetrated outside of U.S. jurisdiction.

I saw a letter to the editor the other day (San Diego tribune, July 10), in which a guy wih no stated qualifications and no citations belittled Chemerinsky's recent article, stating that Chemerinsky failed to understand that illegal combatants who kill a soldier can be sentenced to death by military tribunals.

(Not that that is occurring.)
