at the local grange hall yard sale for $1, so I'm going to give it a go today with my HP Deskjet 648C printer.

The booklet of instructions suggests that, "If the cartridge has been empty for more than 8 hours, soak the cartridge print head in a solution of 50% disrilled water and 50% rubbing alcohol for best results." The booklet has what appear to be clear instructions for refilling inkjet cartridges for a number of different models and brands.
