short and sweet here!...peg and i met through a pen pal column in the early issues of Country Song Roundup magazine,which also printed the words to the latest country songs,and stories of the artist,radio dj's etc... anyway,we wrote to one another for about 3 months(february 1959 til june 1959) and we also were corresponding to other pen pals at the same time...somehow or another,we kept our letters going about every week! i was working at a local factory in winston-salem,n.c., at the time, so when my vaction time came around i hopped a greyhound bus to richmond ,missouri(i didn't even have a car yet)and i spent two weeks with her and her family on the farm there!
at the end of the first week,we got married at her mom and dad's farm homeplace(july 23rd,1959,with their blessings too,of course!)anyway,at the end of the second week i rode the greyhound bus back to winston-salem! the very next weekend,i returned to missouri,with the help of my brother-in law,who volunteered to take me there to pick up my new bride and bring her back home with me to north carolina!
i refer to peg,as my mail order bride,and that was 46 years ago this month july 23rd!( and now you know....the rest of the story!!!)
