This is a very cool thing, and it's not disturbing at all. There IS nothing sexual about hundreds and hundreds of people being nude all at the same time in public, nothing whatsoever...but what there is, is this: a liberation from one of our most common artificially mentally conditioned fears...the fear OF being unclothed in the presence of others. No wonder many people who participated in the event said that they felt liberated by the experience. I bet they did. They will be far less emotionally constrained within themselves for having had that experience.

Why would nudity necessarily have to do with sexuality? It only would in a society where people are deathly afraid of being nude in front of others, and have to confine it only to certain sensual or extremely private circumstances. People who are afraid to show their bodies are also afraid to show their thoughts. Such people are living in an emotional cage of their own making, and it's a pretty small cage. Cages are for prisoners, not free people.

Hurrah for Newcastle! I hope they do it around here soon.
