Ballad (12)

Mage seeks of muse an avatar
To make his dreams more real.
Is he a fool, to look so far
For one to his love feel?

She is far more than he deserves,
With soft dreams of her own.
How can he hope his hope muse serves,
When he but dreams have shown?

What might mage offer muse, to fill
Some of her hours with joy?
Might his words show intent he will
Passions of dreams employ?

He cannot his desires ignore,
Although he cannot act.
Apart, he has but dreams: No more
Than hope for what he's lacked.

How can mage other than muse praise
For what dream of her brings?
The thought of her hopes to sky raise,
And desire passion sings.

Has he now found true heart's desire,
And one to share his life?
Can mage stay warm with passion's fire,
And win his muse as wife?
