We seek for happiness, and find
Those souls that are true friends.
We share our hopes, and in each mind
We hope dreams have no ends.

I have found one, with eyes of light,
To make my visions real.
For smile, I would give all, that sight
Might know what my dreams feel.

Your eyes offer the world I seek,
Of care, and sweet concern:
I must be strong- but, were I weak,
I would to travel turn.

You send a kiss, and I desire
To interest on it pay.
You give me dreams, and hopes inspire,
And I must longings say.

I envy pearls, that touch your skin,
And rest upon soft breast.
How might I dream of passions win,
And put all fears to rest?

I would not want to change my muse,
Save to increase your smiles.
You are desire: I would now choose
Only to lessen miles.
