Now Whitby is a town set where the river meets the sea
One week each year its walls resound to music wild and free
You trudge the narrow cobbled streets to get from pub to pub
But everywhere is uphill--that's the rub!
A thousand hours of music is the organizers' boast
And another thousand hours in the hundred pubs that host
The playing and the singing that make this place the best
Till legs and lungs give out and you must rest.
