I know what you mean, Leeneia. At one point in my life I considered getting an advanced degree in folklore. I started reading some of that stuff and it was like I was shot with a tranquilizing dart. Ethnomusicologists come up with some interesting stories now and then but most of what they do seems pretty deadening to me. But more power to them if that is what they like. And more power to them for organizing, publishing, and publicizing what they do.
