In the US of A you can "trash" other people but you can't
"rubbish" them or "garbage" them.

My definition of "to trash a person" is to speak very bad about them,
spread negative rumors about them etc. so that his or her reputation is garbage...

But do I understand your last post correctly Moo, to mean that in Europe "to rubbish" a person means the same thing as "to trash a person's reputation"?
