Trashing a car would, to me, treating it very badly indeed and leaving it in a very poor or unworkable condition. My teenage daughter also trashes her room leaving it in a deplorable condition!

The "Muslims" thread was started by the inimitable jOhn from Hull who has started other "Rubbish" threads, so far be it for me to actually know what he meant. But I think he meant rubbish in the sense of garbage. It was a provoking question, as many of jOhn's threads are and he immediately answered "No". I've met jOhn a couple of times and know he is sincere and did indeed work for a Muslim-owned business and was talking about the need for racial and religious harmony, whatever one might think about the wisdom of that particular thread title.
