ANd this is Simcoe County's folkie calendar - as you can see, there are lots of events/concerts scheduled in Barrie, Orillia, Newmarket etc this fall - all of which are no more than an hour's drive north from Toronto.
It's not easy to guess exactly what you need - are you thinking of working here, or retiring? Do you prefer rural settings or the concrete jungle? If you like the country, I suggest you focus on locales north of TO (but then again I'm probably biased!).
