Another area of Ontario worth mentioning is the Bellevile and Port Hope vicinity. Stay away from Toronto, way too expensive, hectic and yes, Highway 401 from Oshawa to Guelph is horrendous. Man, I don't think I could ever drive it again.

You could even try the maritimes ... best part of Canada.
