A little while ago I was watching a broadcast of Steve Earle at last year's Cambridge Folk Festival. Two things occurred to me: firstly, if that's what he's like since he gave up drugs what was he like before, and second: what happened to Jim Page? I last saw him at Cambridge in 1979 and subsequently got hold of one of his albums by mail order (with some difficulty). No disrespect to Steverino, but by comparison with Jim Page as a singer, guitarist and stage presence it was like watching Donovan after seeing Dylan.
