A friend of my mom's came up with "Fubb" some 30-40yrs. back. It means a person who loves an animal. Not the mindless idiocy of Disney, assigning human characteristics to them; or saying you love animals in the aggregate. This means someone who doesn'tnecessarily like animals or the idea of "pets", but has been drawn in to the "support" circle of a particular, individual animal. This person recognizes the limitations of the particular animal, learns over time benavioral signals of the creature, and respects the "personality"(? animal-ity?) and individual intelligence of that being. That is a "Fubb".
