I'll try it the right way...

A quick way to convert UK gallons to litres:

Divide gallons by 5.
Add 10% to the result.

Lets go for 10 gallons for ease.

10/5 = 2 + 10% = 2.2

So 10 gallons is 2.2 litres.

I wondered why I was getting such good mileage from the Gnomemoblile!
