The coverage is slightly misleading; the e-mail is not the problem, it is the distraction caused by deciding to or having to answer it immediately. That;s a personal choice to be interrupted. Receiving PMs can be even more leisurely since there are a couple of layers in between (unless you have a auto-notification turned on).
