Sonnet 21/12/73        To Theresa                        VIII

                O little one, who as from heaven sent,
                You are an angel, in diminutive disguise;
                A spot of silver light, a Christmas present,
                A beautiful woman with pixie eyes.
                Like spring incarnate, you bring a breath of life
                Into these tomb-like halls, that need some hope,
                Because of arguments, dissensions: Strife
                With which, alone, we cannot ever cope.
                But you. it seems, have hope enough for all,
                And gladly I do share of it with you
                At this moment in life; green leaf in fall,
                So grows this hope, for old as well as new.
                I dedicate this poem to you, inspired
                By you: This work my feeble pen has sired.
