If your library has a lousy selection, make some suggestions. If they're ignored, be a bit forceful. If they're still ignored, ask why -- first to the Head Librarian and then, if necessary, in the local newspaper. THAT gambit is bound to get some attention. And if it still doesn't work, get yourself appointed to the Board that oversees the library....
