Subject: RE: Not losing the thread...
If one presumes that mudcat will always and forever be subject to frequent long shutdowns, then a remedy might be in order. Most of us live in hope that all the problems will just go away (by mysterious methods known only to the wizards) and WHEN THAT HAPPENS, the debate about "lost threads" will be irrelevant.
It might be supposed that the Boolean capabilities of the system are sufficient that the default might list the last 30 threads in each section OR last 1 day, whichever is larger. An even simpler measure might be to just arbitrarily set the default to "last 30 posts" for each section. The value of such a change though, for those who can click twice to refresh last 3 days, would be marginal; so this is a "for dummies only" sort of thing and shouldn't detract from getting back to normal.
Why bother?
As to the suggestion that there should be a special section for those who live in the dream world where "what's important" is known only to them, and nothing else is of interest, perhaps proper medication or other therapy would be of assistance.
