Thread Name: BS: Angie
Subject: BS: Angie
Well, this is a thread about a song but it is a bit more about politics that's why I use the BS-tag.

In a few weeks, for the first(?) time in history Germany will be governed by a woman, Angela Merkel. Her supporters call her 'Angie' and the Rolling Stones' song of that title is usually played before her campaign speeches. The Rolling Stones don't like that and have tried to prevent this song being played at any moment during the Christian Democrats' election campaign. Property rights and all that. They do not have a good legal case, BTW, for while waiting for the candidate speaking any music can be played legally, so why not a Rolling Stones song (would they have objected to 'Sympathy for the devil' BTW?).

Lots of interesting changes since I was young:
The two conservative parties in Germany are led by a divorced and remarried woman and an openly gay politician respectively and the Rolling Stones sue for violation of property rights. 40 years ago, the Christian Democrats would have thrown anyone out of the party who would have dared to play a Rolling Stones song at an official meeting.
