Just a happy reminiscence.... My mother did not think of herself as a folk singer or even a singer, but everyone on both sides of her family, and also my dad's, sang stuff, it was just part of life. Knowing I liked folk music, my mother went with me to a folk song circle hosted by someone she knew. This must have been sometime in the 1970's. The people in the circle would find songs, with lyrics and music, and pass out the song sheets so everybody could sing.

"S-A-V-E-D" is the only song I remember. There weren't enough song sheets to go around, so my mother said she didn't need one. Since she was a guest everyone pressed her to take a song sheet. She looked embarrassed, and said, "No, really, I don't need it. I already know it. I learned it when ... when it first came around." That caused quite a laugh.
