My father was a wartime Lancaster rear gunner (Tail End Charlie), and is still alive to tell the tale - 83 next birthday!

A few of his aircrew are still around, too.

Sad to say, I saw a Spitfire and its pilot written off at the Woodford Air Show (Cheshire, UK) in, I think, 1997 (or thereabouts). Pilot error - he was trying a loop and was too low. He ploughed straight into the runway.
