Thread Name: BS: More Spitfire warnings
Subject: RE: BS: More Spitfire warnings
I always thought there were more seven Spitfires left, I mean, every bloody airshow seems to have one or more (OK, often very high Mk.s but still Spitfires) - to be honest I'm sick of them, I much prefer the Hurribird (now there genuinely are only about six or eight Hurricanes flying). I remember being at Biggin when they flew four of them in including one in Desert and one in early Night fighter configuration(beautiful planes and the real heroes of the Battle of Britain - there were a lot more of these than Spits and without the 'Spitfire snobbery').
Are there any Bf109s in original configuration still flying?
I seem to remember in the late 1980s somebody was matching a Daimler-Benz power plant to a Spanish 109 (the ones with the Rolls-Royce engine), but I never heard any more.
