The trouble is that we need people to drive intelligently, and MOST of them don't want to. They are simply lazy minded, and enjoy going fast, the Jeremy Clarkson sort. We would LIKE to enforce virtue, but all we can enforce is the law.

Yes, go at the full speed limit when it's safe. Go slower when it isn't. Do you know every road so well that you can confidently override the speed limit? Even if you can, what's the advantage? You save a few seconds at most.

Every road has TWO speed limits- the legal one, and the sensible one. Drive at or below the lower of these.

I find it ironic that people who a few weeks ago were mourning the stupid and criminal killing of Joe Scurfield are now quibbling about the police enforcing the driving laws.
