And the sensible speed is often lower than the legal speed, most especially on residential streets.

Tailgating - I'd rather like to see manufacturers required to install devices in cars to make it impossible. The idea would be that, if someone was going too close to the car in front for the speed involved, the engine would just cut out. (And maybe they could have it so that an email would automatically be sent to the police informing them of the incident...)
