There was a legend in Athens Ohio, when I was a student there. A young woman was hitchhiking to class. A man picked her up, and, instead of driving her to town, drove down a deserted room, and started pulling her clothes off.
Suddenly, she shouted, "Oh My God, I'm late for class!" grabbed her books and her clothes, and ran. The rapist, nonplussed, did not follow.

There was a fellow who attacked two women on their way to the gym. The first one screamed and attracted a group of people, so he ran.
The second one had a paddleball racket, so she did.
