I don't know (but am not surprised) about the Red Cross, but the last thing needed right now is for a lot of well meaning folks lending assistance. Sometimes help is just the opposite. After this has settled down I think they should revamp the emrgency services, incoprporate more volunteers, etc, but don't waste time or energy over it now.
