Thread Name: Lyr Req/Add: Connemara Bus
Subject: Lyr Add: THE CONNEMARA BUS
I never found my Willie Brady tape, but found The Connemara Bus on a recording of an old WSOU radio show. I'm not familiar with the singer but his name sounded like Gin Joe. Perhaps someone can recognize the name and let Pierre know if the recordings are available. Barry, these are the words I decipher for THE CONNEMARA BUS.
Tully

It passes each day down the village street.
Is there any chance of a vacant seat?
There might be now; take the weight off your feet,
On the Connemara bus.

You get to Galway what'er befalls,
Driving along by the low stone walls.
The women all wearing their bright woollen shawls,
On the Connemara bus.

As you ride through the country the air is sweet,
Perfumed by the heather and reeks of peat.
And the sunbeams are dancing at your feet,
On the Connemara bus.

The journey would surely be worth your while.
The yearns in Gaelic would make you smile.
The women all discussing the latest stiles,
On the Connemara bus.

Now baskets of eggs will be perched on the rack,
You'll hear the ducks as they quack, quack, quack,
Their yellow beaks sticking out of the sack.
On the Connemara bus.

You'd certainly know it was market day,
The chickens chirruping all the way.
We talk about prices as we sway,
On the Connemara bus.

To the city of Galway it goes once a week,
It's a great excursion so to speak,
With the laughing women all rosy of cheek,
On the Connemara bus.

To all new comers we smile and we nod.
Be careful there of that fishing rod,
It's a grand soft day so thanks be to God,
For the Connemara bus.
