My hubby (computer hardware service engineer) says that the trick is to change your computer's date to 1972 because the days of the week for 2000 correspond to 1972. He also says it's a big hype and it won't be nearly as bad as everyone reckons.

Ask me again about that in another 13 hours & 10 minutes (it's 11:51 am on New Year's Eve here in east coast, Oz)
