The Republicans running a second generation Democrat politician campaigning on the the environment, The Democrats runing a third generation Republican, son or a recent Republican President, running with the unqualified support of Big Oil on a platform of "social conservatism"

The answer to your question actually is "If the Republicans and Democrats had done that then the Republicans would be the Democrats and visa versa." Like I said, nonsense.
