I caught the tail end of the festival - it took us an hour just to find a parking space (for $15 for 12 hours), but I made it to hear Holdstock/McLeod and the closing all-hands concert. Those two concerts were delightful, as was the chantey sing. We stayed to the very end, and I'm glad we did. The chantey sing in the hold of the Balclutha is always my favorite part of the festival.
A fringe benefit of the chantey sing is that you get to walk Hyde Street Peir during the breaks, and the view is remarkable - the moon and Ghiradelli Square and the Golden Gate Bridge in one direction, and the City of San Francisco in the other. Great view of Alcatraz, too - and you see this from a quiet, peaceful pier, away from the noise of the city. Besides all that, you see the silhouettes of sailing ships.
And a lot of wonderful people, too. There were a number of people I saw across the room but didn't get a chance to talk to - hello, all you people.
